What are Prostate & Urinary Symptoms
Ultrasound is an important tool for evaluating urinary symptoms such as weak flow, frequency, urgency, or difficulty emptying the bladder. It provides clear assessment of the prostate, bladder, and kidneys, helping determine the underlying cause.
Abdominal ultrasound can estimate prostate size, helping identify conditions such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common cause of urinary symptoms. A post-void bladder scan measures how much urine remains after urination, helping diagnose incomplete bladder emptying.
The bladder can also be assessed for stones, wall thickening, diverticula, or masses that may contribute to symptoms. Kidneys are evaluated for swelling or obstruction caused by long-term bladder or prostate issues.
Because ultrasound is non-invasive, quick, and informative, it is an excellent first test for identifying the cause of urinary and prostate-related symptoms and guiding further management.
