What are Gallbladder & Liver Problems
This can include things such as benign and non benign conditions, such as liver damage from excessive alcohol intake or poor diets to Liver cancers and gallstones, etc
Ultrasound is highly effective for evaluating both gallbladder and liver conditions, offering clear visualisation of organ structure and any abnormalities. Gallstones are the most common finding and often cause pain after meals, especially when fatty foods are eaten. Ultrasound can also reveal inflammation of the gallbladder, thickened walls, or fluid that helps diagnose cholecystitis. Blockages in the bile ducts can be detected by showing dilation or obstruction.
In the liver, ultrasound helps identify a wide range of conditionsâfrom fatty liver disease caused by alcohol, diet or metabolic problems, to fibrosis and cirrhosis. It also detects cysts, benign lesions, and more concerning masses that may require further investigation. Using Doppler ultrasound, clinicians can also evaluate blood flow through the liver and surrounding vessels, which is important in advanced liver disease.
Because it is quick, non-invasive and highly informative, ultrasound is the preferred first test for many gallbladder and liver issues.
